How Dan Will Work for You

Dan is focused on cutting red tape to support smart development, strengthening public safety through prevention and community trust, and investing in the essentials – like good jobs, reliable transit, affordable housing, and strong infrastructure – to build a safer, more connected Kansas City for all. Read more about his specific priorities below.

Drive Smart & Efficient Development

As your First District At-Large Council member, Dan will work to:

  • Streamline the development process
  • Eliminate unnecessary red tape
  • Overhaul building and development codes to provide certainty for builders and business owners

Building and development in Kansas City takes too long and has become too hard. Inconsistent and cumbersome policies have contributed to delays and missed opportunities for commercial and residential development projects. Kansas City should be a place where builders and entrepreneurs know what to expect and can get to work without delay. It’s time to modernize our processes so we can build the vibrant, inclusive city our residents deserve.

Dan recognizes that true public safety begins by tackling the root causes of crime – like lack of good-paying jobs, affordable housing, and healthy neighborhoods.

  • Maintenance of existing infrastructure (roads, bridges, etc.)
  • Building on vacant land to encourage future development
